IFYAC Scholarship Proposal

 

IFYAC is dedicated to providing opportunities for youth to participate in the performing arts, including theatre, dance, choir, and orchestra. As part of our commitment to nurturing young talent and supporting their academic and artistic growth, we are pleased to announce the IFYAC Performing Arts Scholarship!

Purpose

The purpose of the IFYAC Performing Arts Scholarship is to recognize and reward graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated exceptional talent, dedication, and passion for the performing arts. The scholarship aims to support their further education and development in their chosen fields.  It is a proven fact that experience in the Performing Arts improves learning, creativity, and higher performance in any discipline.  


Scholarship Amount

The IFYAC Performing Arts Scholarship will award two (2) $2500.00 scholarships to graduating high school seniors annually. The funds are intended to assist with tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses as they pursue higher education or certification through an accredited, advancement program.


Eligibility Criteria


To be eligible for the IFYAC Performing Arts Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Graduating High School Senior: Applicant must be a current high school senior, or equivalent who will graduate in the current academic year.
  2. Enrollment in Higher Education: Applicant must be accepted into and planning to enroll in an accredited college, university, or conservatory in the United States for the upcoming academic year.
  3. Performing Arts Involvement: Applicant must have participated in one or more of the following IFYAC programs during their high school years: Fall Musical, Summer Theatre Camp, Dance, Choir, or Strings. “Participation” can include: performing, costume, sets, lighting, sound, stage management, mentor/mentee, etc.

Selection Criteria

The selection of scholarship recipients will be based on the following criteria:

  1. Artistic Participation and Dedication: Demonstrated participation through involvement and dedication to their chosen performing art(s), as evidenced by participation in performances,  and/or leadership/mentorship roles in IFYAC programs.
  2. Personal Statement: A personal statement (500-750 words) detailing the applicant's passion for the performing arts, their career aspirations, and how the scholarship will help them achieve their goals.
  3. 2 Letters of Recommendation - one academic and one from an adult you worked with in IFYAC (as a participant, mentor, staff, etc, excluding current IFYAC board members.)

Application Process

Interested applicants must provide by January 8, 2025:

 

  • Completed Application Form
  • Official High School Transcript
  • Proof of Acceptance - A copy of the acceptance letter from an accredited college, university, or conservatory.
  • Personal Statement - As described in the selection criteria.
  • Letters of Recommendation - As described in the selection criteria.
  • Video Application - 30-second video describing the applicant’s experience in IFYAC
  • All Scholarship materials must be uploaded here prior to January 9, 2025. It is critical that each file uploaded has your name in the filename so we can combine your materials.  If we are unable to identify your application materials we will be unable to consider you for this award.


Selection Process

All applications will be reviewed by the IFYAC Scholarship Committee to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria.

The Scholarship Committee will evaluate eligible applications based on the selection criteria and will select finalists for an interview if needed.

Interviews (if needed): Finalists will be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee to further assess their qualifications and fit for the scholarship.

Final Selection: The Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship recipients based on a combined evaluation and assessment from the application evaluation and interviews.


Award Notification

Recipients of the IFYAC Performing Arts Scholarship will be notified and announced/presented at Roger’s Revue in January. The scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the recipient's educational institution upon confirmation of enrollment.
